My name is Lorraine Schiller and making art has always been my "happy place". I am inspired by the beauty that is around us every day, and I love conveying that beauty in bright, bold, colorful ways through acrylic painting!
I have always been fascinated by the idea of flowers being a form of communication. For centuries flowers have been given to share sentiments, convey emotions and bring messages of hope and comfort. In the Victorian Era there was even a "language" created called floriography- which was basically using flowers as a non-verbal way to relate messages. As an artist I love using flowers to tell stories and share ideas!
My current work is created in layers of acrylic, with a lot of texture, expressive lines and bright color. The beauty is in the balance of the painterly style tied up with beautiful detail. I have learned in life that beauty is not perfection, but sometimes just seeing things as they are in the raw form. As flowers grow through the dirty soil, sometimes the most beautiful aspects of our own lives come from the not-so-glamorous experiences we have been through.
In this season of life I create my paintings on my kitchen counter top while caring for my two small kiddos! I am creating art in the midst of real life. My painting process is pretty messy and mimics my day as I get to paint a little here and a little there. But at the end of the day, both messes become something beautiful. My kids had a fun day, and my painting is complete with beautiful detail! I am a huge believer at embracing every season of life and finding your flow! Right now, this is my flow!
Along with working on my own happy art, I also love working with others creating custom art! My goal is to keep the process of ordering a personalized and custom painting fun and easy. Having a custom piece of art created for oneself or to give as a gift is extremely special. I want my collectors to enjoy the process of working with an artist, watching their request turn into a beautiful piece of art, just as great as receiving the final product! I love getting to know my collectors and weaving their likes, loves and style into my art!
