For centuries flowers have been used as a form of communication. We give flowers to share sentiments and convey emotions. We also love having them around simply for their beauty and how they make us feel.
As an artist, I love not only the beauty of flowers but also their ability to share my thoughts, ideas and even faith. When I see a flower, I see a story and a way to communicate what's in my heart- in a bright, bold and beautiful way!
Beauty From Ashes
Each of these paintings began with a rough, dark, texturized base, and with a little love, hope and gold paint, beauty emerges. This collection reminds us that no matter how dark life can get, beauty can emerge. My hope in God has pulled me out of some dark places and this collection celebrates the beauty He can create from chaos.
Up Close and Personal
A small but sweet collection of paintings inspired by the thing I missed the most as Covid hit us: being up close and personal with those around us. I pray we will never take for granted seeing a whole face, a smile and spending time with those we love. Look into the eyes of those you love.
Expressions of Love
A collection inspired by a question during some intense moments in our nation. What would the phrase "violent love" look like? Or furious/courageous/intense love? Taking the flower symbol of love, the ROSE, I explored the idea of love being instinctive, bold and radical- with fast brushstrokes, touches of neon, and bold lines! I pray our love looks more like this!
This collection explores flower meanings in small paintings. Each painting was created with many layers of vibrant acrylic paint and shares the flower meaning in a creative way!
