Yellow Butterfly
During this crazy Spring of 2020 my mind keeps going back to the butterfly. As we are all stuck in our homes I think about the cocoon. Once the caterpillar goes inside, it will never return to it's original state. However, it is much more beautiful and free after its release! I think this time can be that type of transformation for us if we use this time wisely and meditate on good thoughts. For me, I have been renewing my mind in God's word, and my faith gets stronger every day! I have decided in my heart, to become the butterfly!
This painting was created on a 9" x 12"wood cradled panel and has some texture medium on the base. I like to use texture to create the idea of the rough patches in our lives becoming something beautiful! The vibrant acrylic paint and glossy varnish make this painting blossom with life!
Frame not included. If you are interested in purchasing a frame please purchase separately.
Magnolia
When I see trees starting to blossom in the Spring, the notion of hope comes to mind. As Spring resounds with themes of new life and new beginnings, I also think of new dreams and new ideas. I think many of us have areas in our lives where we may have hidden away some dreams or desires we have had in life. Maybe they seemed too great, too big and just beyond where we are now. Maybe we have walked through a "winter" season and hidden these dreams in our hearts waiting for a better time. However, I think oftentimes there's not a right time necessarily for those dreams to blossom, but maybe more like, a right frame of mind. There are many times in my life that certain dreams came to pass in seemingly inconvenient timing! My daughter was conceived during my mom's cancer treatments and born two months after my mom passed away. I illustrated my first children's book while I was now a mom of two, trying to balance life with an active toddler and baby. I birthed a new art business after a major move and under an insurmountable amount of stress... in the first three months I sold more art than I had sold in that time frame in years! During this coivd-19 crisis I invested more money in my art business than I ever had before (this all being while my husband got laid off!) I have learned not to always wait for "Spring", but just get in the right frame of mind, and go for it!
This painting was created in acrylic paint with hints of gold on an 8" x 8" wood cradled board in a 10" x 10" black float frame. It is finished with a beautiful glossy varnish which makes the colors pop! Let these beautiful Magnolia flowers remind you of the hope and dreams that are in your own heart, and let them blossom!

Stargazing Lily
As I was creating this painting I was thinking about beauty. I have always believed there is beauty in everyone and everything, it just needs to be drawn out. True beauty is something that happens at a heart level, it's not surface. As I was creating this piece I was dissecting my own subconscious thoughts. It's easy for me to see beauty in others or to find beauty from a difficult circumstance. However, sometimes when it comes to me, I feel beauty= image or perfection. Yuk! That is so not true, but somehow I think our culture can deceive us in believing that. So, as I see beauty in everyone else, I am going to choose to see it in myself. Will you accept the challenge with me?
This "beauty" was created on an 8" x 8" wood cradled board with acrylic paints. It has a texture medium underneath and is varnished with a lovely gloss that makes a true statement of, well, imperfect beauty!

Three Daisies
As much as I love flowers from a floral shop... I adore little hand picked bouquets of wild flowers! I used to have a neighbor whose visiting nurse would go out in the yard (we had a shared yard since we lived in a town home) and hand pick these sweet little bouquets. She had an eye for putting grasses and flowers and leaves together and making them look amazing. She saw something in our yard that most people just didn't see. It was truly a gift that left an impression on me.
Beauty is all around us, and when we have eyes to see it, we will value this world we live in so much more!
This colorful painting was created with acrylics on an 8" x 10" wood cradled board. It's got some wild brushstrokes and wild color to showcase this simple wildflower bouquet!

Pink Peony
This beautiful Pink Peony was created on an 8" x 8" wood cradled board with acrylic paints. I have been playing around with the idea of beauty coming out of the rough places, so I used a texture medium on the base of the wood. A pale pink peony emerged from the rough place, giving a sign of hope and perseverance! I finished this piece with a gloss varnish which really enhances the color and texture, bringing this painting to life!
This painting does not come framed, but does have a wire hanger.
Forsythia
Forsythias will always remind me of beautiful Spring days at my parents house in Massachusetts. They were one of my mom's favorite flowers and she would grow them in her yard and decorate with them in her home during the Spring months. I never realized how comforting it would be to see these flowers several years later after my mom left this earth.
Sometimes the things that remind us of loved ones feel sad, but there's a slight comfort as well. This is the weird thing about memories. But as I was painting these flowers, I was comforted. And upon looking up the meaning of the Forsythia flower, it means "anticipation." I realized that the comfort of these memories lies in the hope that I will see my mom again. I know where she is and I know the way there. There's a true anticipation in my heart, and that's the truest form of comfort!
I feel anticipation is an emotion we should all carry. Anticipation of Spring weather, anticipation of a breakthrough in medical science concerning this virus, anticipation that the storm will pass and the sun will come out again!

There's nothing like a red rose to say "I love you"! Red roses feel very celebratory to me. As much as they are a common flower, the times I would receive them were extra special occasions. For this painting, I added a bunch of texture and even some touches of a vibrant, almost florescent, red to portray the joy of receiving a beautiful red rose! Like confetti going off in your heart!
